Ben 10 Omniverse: My Way

Alright... I had these designs in my head for quite some time and finally got around to drawing them a month ago or so (it was when "Omniverse" was first announced; I did it out of defiance, in a sense). I was going to touch it up in Photoshop, but since I'm not very good at Photoshop (and I got a bit paranoid with the eraser), I decided to post it as is. Maybe I'll revisit it later in one of those "x years later" memes.

Now for the methods to my madness:

GWEN

Gwen's design was the first I came up with, though I got inspiration for the top from other redesigns that I found online. My backstory: After being controlled by the Lucabra, Gwen vows to not let anyone "control" her again. As a result of this newfound emotional freedom, her powers grow in strength exponentially, and she (finally!) gets rid of the prep school look in favor of something that's easier to move in and a bit edgier. The locket is the one that Kevin gave her in the episode "Fool's Gold".

BEN

I really liked the current look for Ben, but I wanted to spice it up a little bit nonetheless. The color scheme of the jacket's been reversed (black with green stripes instead of green with black stripes), and I ditched the big "10" in front for some Japanese kanji that mean "ten" and "son", respectively.

KEVIN

Kevin's redesign, in some respects, was actually the hardest, only because I couldn't really picture him wearing a short-sleeved shirt 24/7, and a leather jacket (while very cool and sexy) would make him look too matchy-matchy with Ben. In the end, I went with a 3/4 sleeve shirt in a neutral blue-gray color, and added some biker gloves for some more edge. (I guess they could also aid in his absorption abilities or something like that). His pendant is the lock he wore around his neck in the original series, but there's also a small pink key (<3 <3 symbolizing Gwen and how she was "the key to his heart" <3 <3)

Ben 10 belongs to Man of Action, not me (tragically).

First off, thanks for all of the faves and comments!! Reading them makes my day!!

I just wanted to throw my two cents in on the new character designs for Gwen and Kevin, now that we know what they look like. Gwen...... well, I'll just say that she would not look out of place in a collection of Bratz dolls. That's not necessarily a put-down (I was obsessed with them when I was younger, actually) but.... oh, who am I kidding? She looks terrible now, like a totally cliched mean girl. And Kevin...... When I first saw the sneak peak on YouTube, I thought that they didn't mess with his design like they did with Ben and Gwen. God, was I wrong. I personally like Kevin a little emo (emphasis on the "little", though - less like Cloud Strife and more like Hatsuharu Sohma) - but IMO, "emo" and "muscleman" mix together like water and oil. And I like that they brought back the lock - but to put a huge "11" on it? Seriously, WHAT were they thinking?

For me, the sneak peak basically was the final nail in the coffin. It's going to have to take some brilliant writing and/or plenty of good action sequences and Gwevin moments to make me watch past the first episode. (-Sigh-) It's a shame, too... I've been with the franchise since the beginning, and they've milked it for all of its worth. At least I've got dA to support my Gwevin addiction and "The Legend of Korra" to fill my cartoon void.
